Last week I was on the brink of abandoning 24 if things didn't improve quickly.  Last night, the show totally got me back into it, by avoiding (for the most part) unneccessary sub-plots, making some clever twists and turns, and of course - including lots of edge-of-your-seat action. 

So I totally misread last week's preview - I thought the that the kidnapping of Jack was to try to force him to detonate the nuclear weapons, but turns out it was Morris from CTU they were after, and that won't really happen until at least next week.  As it turns out, Jack's father is an even bigger villian than his brother, which, was sort of easy to guess after dad said "I need five minutes" at the end of the show, but was compelling nonetheless, especially when he killed Jack's brother in the closed room.  The only part of that plot line that didn't make sense was that at the start of the show, if dad was actually in on the plan, then why didn't he just let them shoot Jack in the back of the head?  Dad was the one that made the first move in escaping that situation, which doesn't make sense if dad and Graham wanted Jack dead.

My only gripe from last night is I'm getting annoyed with President Palmer.  He's essentially just like the President last year - a flip flopper that's not confident in any of his decisions.  And a President with such a trendy goatee?  C'mon!  The producers also seem intent on making a statement about the Patriot Act - although who knows, perhaps President Palmer not tightening up his domestic policies could lead to more terrorism - the show is on a News Corp network after all ...

Anyways, last night improved my grade for season 6 to a B+ and I'm once again looking forward to next week's episode.
