I'm in Hawaii!
As a few of you know, I recently made the decision to accept a position with ChipIn, an Internet company that happens to be located in Honolulu, Hawaii!  It was a very difficult decision, but the opportunity to live in an amazing place working for a very exciting company at the age of 24 seemed too good to pass up.  I arrived yesterday, and officially begin my job as "Product Manager" tomorrow.  Basically, ChipIn automates the process of "chipping in" - i.e. - raising money for a gift, a cause, an event, etc.  Think of it as a social PayPal of sorts.

What does this move mean for the rest of my life?  Here's my thinking:
  1. Personal - I'm leaving all of my friends and family behind, which is difficult, but I've done it before (first when I went to college 1,000+ miles from home, and then when I transfered colleges two years later) and it worked out well, and I still keep in touch with my good friends from Atlanta. In fact, there would probably be no MindSay had I not transferred schools, so who knows what this will lead to Smiley
  2. Professional - While I will be plenty busy helping steer ChipIn in the right direction, I'll be working about 10 seconds from where I live (at the moment, our office is in the house!).  Without four hour commutes - which are both a waste of precious time and mentally draining, I'll have a lot more free time to work on my own projects - namely MindSay, and a few venture I'm working on called wildtab (look for a beta in 2-3 weeks).  I'm also going to try to blog more - in fact, as soon as GoDaddy gets its act together, you'll be able to get to my blog by going to adamostrow.com - so stay tuned for more entries from me about MindSay, tech news, life in Hawaii, or other things I find interesting.
I also of course will be taking advantage of my awesome location and spending more time ourdoors - exercising, golfing, and otherwise exploring the islands.  I also still have my home in Virginia, so I do plan to be back on the "mainland" at least a couple times a year.  Call it a quarter-life crisis if you wish, but I think it should be an exciting ride  Smiley
