Tech Recovery Coming?
Since I spend a good deal of my time in a cube in the proposals department at a supposed "leader" in e-commerce, sometimes working hard, sometimes hardly working -- one way or another being pretty well connected to the high tech world -- I feel like I can get a pretty good gauge on the tech economy.

I must say, the last few weeks have looked encouraging in terms of tech spending coming back, and in turn fueling new innovation and good things for techies. Our department is flooded this week with some pretty heavy proposals for big-time companies looking for supply chain software, and as I watch earnings reports and the like from the likes of Intel and Flextronics, overall things look encouraging.

Will we ever return to the late 90s boom? It's unlikely, but you never know. If business picks up and innovation follows, current marginal industries like nanotech, genetics, and next generation energy could very well begin to gain some footing. When that happens, another boom cycle can occur and a lot of people win.
