So I'm not going to give into all the hoopla and write about how amazing the iPhone is and how it's going to change the nature of mobile devices - frankly, I don't think it will be that huge until they can bring the price down (tomorrow I'm activating a Blackberry Pearl which is costing me $0 with a new activation ... the iPhone would apparently cost me $499 with a new activation).
One thing I did find interesting was news that Cisco Systems is suing Apple for violating the trademark they have on the name "iPhone". Not only does Cisco hold the trademark, but they actively sell a product carrying the name - a phone for VoIP. It seems pretty arrogant for Apple to go forward announcing the iPhone with that name before making a deal with Cisco. It's one thing if the trademark was owned by some guy living in his basement that they could send a few bucks to buy the trademark, but Cisco is a $150 billion+ company. Also, now that they've gone ahead and launched it, it would seem to me that Cisco could settle for a pretty penny since Apple is now fully committed to the name. Perhaps it's more important to Apple to have every product be the "iSomething" than worry about lawsuits ...
